“Principles Before Personalities” In Memoriam – Wendy Jackson

“Principles Before Personalities
In Memoriam – Wendy Jackson
(5 September, 1950 – 26 June, 2020)

It is with great sadness that we regret to inform our IAMAW family of the passing of sister Wendy Jackson on the 26th of June 2020.

An IAM member since 1985, Wendy served IAM Local Lodge 2603 (Air Canada Finance) in various positions, most notably as President.

She advocated and advanced the IAM ideals with grace and humour along with a steely resolve for the betterment of our Brothers and Sisters in her local, her district and the union at large. She retired on 31 January 2013.

Wendy’s favorite quote was “principles before personalities”.  She said this frequently when sisters and brothers had differing opinions and were not getting along. She always tried to get the job done and leave egos behind where they belonged.

A strong belief in union education drove her to take all the IAM Leadership courses, including Train the Trainer, at the IAM’s Winpisinger Education and Technology Centre (Placid Harbor) in Maryland.

Wendy also had a great sense of humor, as any of her local members could attest to. Her laughter rang out at all gathering she was a part of. However, no-one mistook her dedication to improving the lives of her members at the local.

Wendy Jackson enriched the lives of all those around her. She will be missed. We miss her now.

A special light has been extinguished.

Requiescat in Pace – Rest in Peace.
